Preparing to Leave town...

"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive."

Not trying to sound negative here, but what does this quote mean? Some guy named Ralph Stevenson wrote this quote, and I just don't get it. Ohhhh, I get it, Mr. Stevenson has never traveled with a 1 and 3 year old. Now it all makes sense to me. This man was only speaking to people who don't travel with young kids, because, to me, the arriving part is the incentive to traveling. If I couldn't give my mom a hug, or go to Starbucks with my sister, or watch the expressions of those who have not seen Peyton and Beckham in such a long time, that they don't recognize them...I think, why go?

Do I sound a bit bitter that I have to travel with my two very young and wonderfully energetic babies tomorrow?...perhaps...but I know I will feel differently tomorrow after we step off that plane and are greeted by our loved ones. Someday, I may even agree with Mr. Stevenson, but not today!!! Today, I will pack snacks, empty sippy cups, travel toys, DVD players, various movies, M&M's (bribe food), wipes, many books, crayons, dolls, musical toys, things that light up, a huge carseat (to be lugged through the airport AND airport security ALONE with two kids who will want to be held), a stroller, a diaper bag, my camera (I don't leave home without it), cushy pillow (for Peyton), puzzles, brush (to make the kids look cute when we land), make-up (so I can look cute when we land), cell phone,...trust me there is more. So maybe I should make up a quote like...

"To travel with kids alone...SUCKS!"

HAHAHA -PROFOUND!!! I hope you enjoyed my rant today, I feel much better-thank you:)

Oh, Heidi! I can't imagine all the packing, and lugging of luggage, and trying to get through the airport safely with 2 little ones! Just think, it will all be worth it once you get to MI and are with family and friends....and a glass of wine! LOL! ;-)

That's a beautiful quote...I don't know how you do it! But, Jon and Kate did it with EIGHT!! Seriously, praying you get to sit next to some Mary Popin-esque woman who helps you, reads books to the kids, and puts them to sleep with her English accent and crazy kid-charm. It could happen.

I'm still amazed you are able to do this so often! I'd love to be a fly on your suitcase (that's a travel-on) to watch how you do it! And you do it a lot! WOW! Props to you! Can't wait to hear how it goes!! GOOD LUCK!!
